Health, Safety and Security
The safety of every individual travelling in our groups is of paramount importance. We follow strict procedures to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to avoid risk and safeguard the wellbeing of all who travel with us. The objective is to provide a tour that is safe, enabling and encouraging a positive, pro-active approach to safety standards worldwide.
We protect all clients’ travel monies in a trust account (overseen by an independent legal trustee) until the tour is complete and everyone has returned home safely.
Health & Safety
Prior to confirming tour arrangements, all accommodation, transport and visits are checked to ensure they comply with the statutory risk regulations required in that location and pass the stringent standards of our risk assessment evaluation. These checks are carried out regularly to ensure the standards are maintained either by our own qualified staff or local agents.
All The Get Go staff maintain close communication with our clients prior to departure and in addition an Emergency Duty Officer is available 24 hours a day to deal with any unforeseen circumstances.
The validity of these is verified annually by our own staff or agents acting on our behalf who hold a specific brief relating to our requirements and standards. It is, additionally, a requirement that all suppliers used by us are adequately insured and hold the necessary legal liability insurance cover.
The Get Go insists that all who travel are covered either by our comprehensive Insurance, or if using their own, that this satisfies us it provides adequate cover including organiser’s liability and repatriation.
The Get Go has in place product liability insurance cover up to £2 million. This includes public/product liability insurance, professional indemnity insurance.
The Get Go has risk assessments for its accommodation suppliers. Please contact us for further details.
All activities under the control of The Get Go are risk assessed and as part of The Get Go policy all those on a tour will be given a full health and safety briefing before carrying out any new activity.
SAFETY AND EMERGENCY BACKUP
Before any tour all participants are briefed well in advance.
Standard precautions taken are:
EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS
In the event of an emergency and clients are supplied with a contact for The Get Go and also contact details for fire, police, ambulance and hospitals. Details are also supplied for local pharmacists.
The Get Go are supplied with the names/designations/contact numbers of an emergency contact for each client.
The Get Go can be contacted directly on 07929064831 24 hours a day. Advice is given prior to departure specifying who will be on duty during your tour and the best number to use.
It is a pre-requisite that all groups travelling with us are covered by appropriate insurance and we strongly recommend that the whole party is covered under the same policy. This should include group organiser’s liability insurance of at least £5 million or more. See The Get Go insurance policy and also Terms and Conditions.
The Get Go cannot accept financial responsibility for overseas claims, either medical or personal, unless our own insurance cover has been taken out.
We comply with all necessary travel legislation to protect customers’ money as required by the Consumer Protection, the Package Travel, Package Holiday and Package Tour regulations 1992. We operate a Trust Account for our groups travelling by coach which ‘ring fences’ their payments until the tour departure. This means that in the unlikely event of our financial failure, the Trustees of the Trust Account can authorise the full reimbursement of customers’ payments whose tours are affected and have not yet departed, or arrange for tours already in progress to be completed unhindered.
No accommodation will be booked or paid for prior to health, safety and security checks being made. All accommodation will have been checked either by ourselves or by our agents. The Get Go requires that we have confirmation that hotels and accommodation we use have certificates to cover all the essential features of health and safety such as fire certificates or the local equivalent, appropriate insurance cover and are checked for potential risks as laid out in our accommodation risk assessment form.
Please note that smoke alarms are not mandatory in every country. Certain accommodation units used may not be equipped with smoke detection systems. For further safety information about your tour accommodation please contact us. You may wish to take your own mobile smoke alarms with you on tour – these can be purchased from most DIY centres throughout the U.K.
